ERRATA: - Apologies! I meant to say that the banana sockets for the DMM to measure current is in *parallel* with the SPST switch with Red protective cap. Activating the switch, closes one of the parallel branches, allowing current to flow. If this left in the default "off" position, no current can flow, unless the DMM is attached.

      Hi Ken, I definitely enjoyed both my 15300 pieces (including the OR version) when I had them. However I later decided to focus mainly on Patek and Rolex - so additions have been in that direction plus another Omega. AP is worth considering as long as you don’t mind several services and repairs and this is something I did not want to continue bothering with given I’ve never had issues with the other brands. I’ve moved back home and the nearest AP service centres are in nearby countries and just not worth the hassle (for me).

      Hi JM, in 2018 I picked up a new (at the time) X5 40e Xdrive. This has just been such a great all around vehicle and something highly recommended. Unfortunately where I'm based due to server mis-management/corruption the country's FX resources post-COVID are next to nothing; as such no new cars can be imported by non-Politicians (to save the $$$ leaving the country). There are others easily selling theirs used for ~$80k (not far off from its original cost, as we have very high vehicle taxes here), even which much more milage than mine. We haven't even touched 20,000km but getting close. It's practically in brand new condition.

    I think this is less about the craftsmanship of Montblanc, but more about how to care for certain materials, if you are not accustomed to using them. Silver tends to get a "patina", ALWAYS, after a couple of months, if you have some pottery or cutlery made out of silver, you know you must take that patina away. There are many products to do so.

      @@saadgandapore not really. At the time I parted with the APs I had moved on to the Patek pieces and am glad I’ve generally moved in that and Rolex as main choices. The latter are great everyday watches and the former are just super special. AP - I need to make a longer video about this, but apart from making a quick buck, not much really appeals to me thanks to decisions made by the brand. Kudos for them making billions by aligning with rappers and Hollywood elite and causing a frenzy on social media. But that’s not the kind of watch hobby I care about. Will elaborate later. Thanks!

    Beautiful Day-Date, Mike. Been a big fan of the channel since back then when the writing instrument and watches’ reviews started. Now it’s nice to see you learning with Flight Simulator 2020, since I happen to be a B767 pilot. Any questions you can surely ask too! Greetings

    • @bsodmike
      @bsodmike 3 роки тому

      Hi Aranda, great to hear from you and thanks for the comments. Yes, I've been a fan of flight-sim way back since the first versions of MS flight simulator; that was well back in my early early teens playing other games like F22 raptor and Comanche 'copters. Of course, I didn't take much of it super-seriously back then. With the new Flight Simulator 2020 though it's really amazing to have a play with the A320Neo and the Boeing 777/Dreamliner. At the moment I've been doing my best to master ILS landings with the A320Neo and just been learning about its A-floor stall-protection. The simulator auto-pilot so far does not simulate the combined A1+A2 for automated landings (and there's no fun in that!) so I take it out of autopilot and have been practicing flaring myself. It's not as easy as it looks! I find it's super easy to nail landings in the Daher TBM 900 but then again, it is far more agile. On the topic of watches, I've been sporting the Day-date as my everyday driver. In June I bought Mum an identical piece in Rose gold, 36mm but with the full-diamond bezel and White MOP diamond dial and president bracelet. On the Patek front I'm enjoying the 5146R (I replaced the older yellow-gold piece) and added a 5170G manual-wind Chronograph in December. It's an incredible piece and I'm glad to be able to enjoy it from time to time.

    When you use a screw driver on the screws a professional would use a piece of plastic cling film between the screw and the screw driver to avoid scratches on the screw. People who have Patek watches should really seek professionals, there is always something new to learn from them.

    • @bsodmike
      @bsodmike 4 роки тому

      First of all, I'd like to thank you for a polite response, which is rare on UA-cam. I completely agree, for any Patek owner, if you have easy access to your boutique/AD, let them adjust and attend to your watch for you. When I last sat with a Patek technician I did not notice him using a cling film; he was just careful and certain with his use of the correct screw-driver. In my personal collection, I only own original Bergeon tools and was careful when working on this deployant strap. In any case, I sold this watch a while ago and replaced it with a 5146R in 2019 -- (I switched from yellow to rose gold). Thanks again for your feedback.
